Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
1.1 This Privacy Policy explains how La Sip List (“we”, “us”, “the Service”) collects, uses, stores and protects your personal data when you create an account or use the Service.
1.2 La Sip List is a personal coffee-tracking application that allows users to save cafés, record personal notes, ratings, prices and drinks, and maintain a list of cafés they would like to visit.
1.3 This Privacy Policy applies together with our Terms & Conditions, which govern your use of the Service.
1.4 By creating an account or using La Sip List, you acknowledge that your personal data will be processed as described in this Privacy Policy.
2. Data We Collect
2.1 Account data: your email address, and your name if you add one. There are no passwords: you sign in with Apple or with a link sent to your email.
2.2 User content: information you choose to add while using the Service, including café names and locations, personal notes, ratings, prices, drink details, and any photographs you upload.
2.3 Location data: if you allow it, the app uses your device’s location only to centre the map on where you are. It is not stored or sent to us.
2.4 Technical data: we do not collect information about your device or how you use the app.
2.5 Payment data: subscription payments are processed entirely by Apple through In-App Purchase. We do not collect or store your payment card details. Apple provides us only with your subscription status (for example, whether it is active and when it renews).
3. How We Use Your Information
3.1 Provide and operate the Service: create and maintain your account, and enable core features such as Sipped, Up Next, and syncing your data across your devices.
3.2 Provide customer support: respond to questions or issues you raise with us.
3.3 Maintain security: protect your account and the Service from unauthorised access or misuse.
3.4 Comply with legal obligations: respond to legal requests and meet applicable regulatory requirements.
3.5 We do not use your personal data for advertising or marketing purposes, and we do not sell your personal data to third parties.
4. Legal Basis for Processing
4.1 We process your personal data on the following legal grounds under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
(a) Performance of a contract: to create and maintain your account and provide the features of the Service.
(b) Consent: where you grant permission for location access.
(c) Legitimate interests: to maintain the security, reliability and operation of the Service.
(d) Legal obligation: to comply with applicable law.
5. Service Providers
5.1 We use Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore and Firebase Hosting) to operate the Service, including managing accounts, storing your data and sending sign-in links. Your saved data is stored in Firebase’s European data centres. If you sign in with Apple, Apple confirms your identity under its own privacy policy. Map images are loaded from Mapbox. Each of these receives your device’s IP address when used.
5.2 For subscriptions, we use Apple’s In-App Purchase system (StoreKit), operated by Apple and governed by Apple’s own privacy policy. Apple provides us with your subscription status but not your payment details.
5.3 The map is drawn by Mapbox from OpenStreetMap data. When you add a café by its address, the address you paste is sent to OpenStreetMap’s Nominatim service to find it on the map; nothing about your account is sent with it. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors. Like the services in 5.1, Nominatim receives your device’s IP address.
6. International Data Transfers
6.1 Firebase Authentication may process sign-in data outside the European Union or European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where our service providers process personal data outside the EU/EEA, we rely on the safeguards those providers make available, such as standard contractual clauses, in accordance with the GDPR.
7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
7.1 La Sip List does not use cookies, advertising trackers or analytics. If you choose to send the in-app survey, your answers are stored with your account and used only to improve the app. Our website counts visits that arrive by our printed QR code, as one number per day. Nothing about you is recorded.
7.2 If this changes in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy to describe the technologies used and how you can manage your preferences.
8. Your Data Protection Rights
8.1 Under the GDPR, you have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; correct inaccurate or incomplete data (rectification); request deletion of your data (erasure); ask us to limit how we use your data (restriction of processing); object to our use of your data; and receive a copy of your data in a portable format (data portability).
8.2 To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 13.
9. Data Security
9.1 Encryption: data is encrypted in transit between your device and our service providers.
9.2 Access controls: access to personal data is limited to those who need it to operate the Service.
10. Data Retention
10.1 We retain your personal data for as long as your account remains active and as necessary to provide the Service.
10.2 You may delete your account at any time, from the app. Your account and its associated data are deleted straight away and cannot be recovered. If you signed in with Apple, we also revoke La Sip List’s access to your Apple sign-in at the same time.
10.3 We may maintain technical backups as described in our Terms & Conditions. Where available, you should use the Service’s own backup/export functionality to keep your own copy of information you wish to retain.
11. Children’s Privacy
11.1 You must be at least 16 years old to create an account, consistent with our Terms & Conditions.
11.2 We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If we become aware that we have done so, we will delete that data.
12. Changes to This Policy
12.1 We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Significant changes will be posted within the app or on our website, and the effective date below will be updated accordingly.
